Sleeping Babes

Noah slept in his big boy bed for the first time!

We had tried napping a few weeks ago and that didn't go well. Yesterday, Saturday, he fell asleep in the car so when we got home I put him in his big boy bed for his nap. He woke up a little confused. So last night when it was time for bed we put him down in his big bed and just said good night. He did cry for a few minutes but ended up falling asleep. He didn't get out of bed once! My little baby is getting so big. I was actually kinds of sad. Max also slept for several hours on his own without being held. All in all it was a good Saturday night. But why is it Jason and I still fell asleep on the couch? By the time we got up to go to bed Max was up again. That's okay we're making progress. Everything in "baby steps"

Beautiful Days

With days like these it is going to be VERY difficult to go back to work in July. I have actually really enjoyed this time off. 3 1/2 weeks so far. It feels much longer. I keep thinking Max should be 8 weeks or something, but he's not. I shouldn't be complaining so much that he isn't sleeping through the night or has his days and nights mixed up - he should he's only 3 1/2 weeks old. He is really doing great and you would not even know he had any "trauma" during birth. Growing like a weed. The boys and I made it through our first night without Jason. I think Noah was a little confused though that Jason wasn't here. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. This morning Noah woke up and knew Jason was home - his face actually looked disappointed it was me coming to get him and not Jason. I opened his bedroom door and he yelled Daddy, then had this look like he was going to cry. As soon as Jason walked in he perked right back up. It makes me a little sad he doesn't "need" me as much now. Already becoming mister independent. Talking like crazy and repeating actions and words. Going to have to start watching what we do around here. Pics of Max and my new flowers. The yard is starting to look good. Noah can actually go in the backyard and play!

Tummy Time

Weekend Fun

So lot's going on around here. I am exhausted but don't feel like I have anytime to rest. Now that it has stopped raining in Tulsa and things have dried out we have lots to do. Last week Jason's brother was in town - Noah got to play with his cousins and they all seemed to have a good time. It's so cute to watch Noah play and interact with older kids. Friday we had the boys well checks at the doctor. Noah at 18 months - 32 inches (38% for height), 25 lbs (37% for weight) and 48.7 cm (74% for head circumference). He's got a itty bitty body and big ole head. Does that mean he will be smart??? One can only hope. Max already gained 1 lb in 2 weeks. Yippee! He still has his nights and days mixed up. He is going to be my night owl. Awake from 1:00 to about 3:30. I just don't remember how we got Noah on a schedule. I have to keep telling myself it has only been 3 weeks now. I still have plenty of time to work with him. I just want to sleep in my bed again, the couch is getting pretty uncomfortable.
We also had a day at the zoo sponsored by Miss Lena's Daycare. One of the parents put the whole thing together. It was a lot of fun and Noah loved it. He actually "saw" the animals this time. He loved chasing the ducks and geese. And now knows what noise an elephant makes. All in all we are doing okay. Tomorrow will be my first day with both kids in the evening. Jason goes back to the fire station. I think we will be okay, that is why the invented the Bjorn. I can hold Max the entire time and still take care of Noah. Multi-tasking will become my middle name. I don't know how my mother did it with 4. Way to go mom! Enjoy the pics

Sweet Baby Max

It's Monday

We had a great weekend! It makes me a little nervous that Jason will be going back to work soon. It's when I will have both kids that I worry I won't be able to do it. Noah is demanding a lot of attention right now and has his little melt downs for no "obvious" reason. Max is still a little confused on his nights and days. He has been awake since 4:30AM it is 9:08AM now. I think he dozed off for about 20 minutes then I decided it was time he needed a bath, thought that would relax him and send him to dreamland but it just gave him the hiccups. He didn't seem to mind his bath though. I can say that he loves to be held and cuddled, as long as he is snuggled up next to you he will sleep and sleep good. I can't believe he is already 13 days old and has changed dramatically. I am feeling good and actually enjoyed a beer this weekend. We went to a couple's baby shower (we took Max) and it was nice to get out of the house and enjoy some adult time.
We took Noah to the park in our neighborhood this weekend.

We survived

Big brother Noah survived his first week with his little brother. We were coloring and he decided they must taste as delicious as they look. I guess he is not quite ready for markers. Thank god for non toxic and washable markers.

Well by the looks of it we did survive our first week. Max is adjusting well at home. He is eating and sleeping well...there has to be a catch. It's been pretty good, I keep waiting for him to say "just kidding" and colic to set in or something. Noah is doing well with him too. He says hello and goodbye to baby all the time. He doesn't really like it when he cries for a period of time. Noah has definitely bonded with his daddy this last week and gets a little jealous when Jason is holding Max. The other morning when Noah woke up, I went in to get him and he actually started yelling Daddy, Daddy? Would not let me get him up. Makes me a little sad but I know he loves me.

Happy Birthday Max

Max is finally here. So here's the rundown from start to finish:
Tuesday, April 24th we checked into St. Francis at 6:00am. Our OB broke Jeri's water and started a low level of Pitosin at about 7:20am and the wait began. A couple hours later it was time for the infamous epidural (that didn't work with Noah). Well, guess what... Didn't work again this time, but luckily the doctor set it a second time and it was fabulous.
We had a target time in our mind of somewhere around 2:00pm. Well that was just wishful thinking. Now they decide to slowly step up the Pitosin over time. So by 6:00pm Jeri was dilated to about 9cm. The doctor had her push a little to see where she stood, then went to deliver another baby. By 7:00pm the nurse checked Jeri and honestly didn't know which body part of Max she was feeling. So she ordered a sonogram, which seemed inconclusive other than the fact that Max was turned a little bit. But by 7:45 or 7:50, the doc was back and it was time to start pushing. Although when HE checked Jeri he said it felt like he was touching nostrils. Which slightly threw up the red flag of concern. But we press on. Jeri was pushing like a champ. All total for about 30 minutes. So in between pushing with contractions, the doc has me come around to have a look. He points to what he says are Max's eyes, but I can't tell a thing. Then he says look at that....and there it was just like he thought....Max's nose pointing up instead of down. I thought it was odd, but apparently a baby coming out face up isn't that big of a deal. So she pushes some more and Max starts to crown, only it's not his head coming out first it's more like his forehead / eyebrows. So right at this point, as we break between contractions, the doc tells us to be prepared that Max isn't going to look normal in the face when he comes out (thanks for the scare Doc). So Max came in a "Face Presentation." Obviously meaning his head was tilted back and he was face first. The doc said he's only done 3 of these in 15 years and the 11-year nurse had never seen one. (I googled it today and one source stated that a face presentation only happens once every 660 births)

The pictures will be posted very soon, but Max looked like he was in a 15 round boxing match.....and lost horribly. His eyes were so purple and puffy he couldn't open them, and even his tongue was purple.

But one day later he looks 10 times better and it should basically all be back to normal in a few days. He and Jeri had a rough ride...but then again Jeri doesn't do anything half way....it's always extreme. Overall everything went better than Noah's delivery(Thank God the epidural worked). Mommy and Max are doing well, thank you to all our family and friends for your support.

That's right, it's time

So we go in to St Francis tomorrow morning at 6:00am! Yes, I succumbed to the fact I am miserable. Max should be here tomorrow! We are a little nervous and my poor little Noah has no idea what is getting ready to happen to him.

I will update everyone as soon as I have access to a computer again!

Message from Max

It is getting kind of cramped in here. Maybe if I stretch out like this, yeah, that's it that feels better. My foot fits perfectly in this rib. I can stay in here another 12 days..it's so warm and snuggly.
